About the Artist

BIO

Adell Blackmon III (AB3) was born in St. Louis, Missouri/USA, known for it’s Blues and Jazz music was an influenced in his artistic journey at an early age. Adell fascinated by his father's sketchbook drawings from his University art classes wanted to become an artist. Enchanted by a print of an Matisse painting which hung in the family's living room young Adell's urge to become a visual artist became stronger each time he passed it. He  studied the Fine Art curriculum at the local community college and then focussed on graphic art when he stumbled upon the work of the famous illustrator Patrick Nagel. In the Mid-eighties he worked as a part time production artist for a St. Louis newspaper and sold his first images to a popular discotheque in the trendy St.Louis Central West End. Adell like the pioneer William Becknell travels to Santa Fe. NM. Here in Santa Fe he meets a young woman named Deia who he falls in love with and soon becomes the mother of his child. Deia brings Adell to Europe to get to know her family, while there Adell falls in love with the village of Deià which his partner is named after, and it's art culture so after 14 years in Santa Fe, Adell moves his family to Deià Mallorca,Spain where his painting and exhibiting journey continued. After 10 years of painting and exhibiting in Mallorca Adell comes full circle to where it all began back to Santa Fe NM to show his art.
